Breast Uplift
After The Breast Uplift Operation
Postoperative Management
You will be required to spend 1 night in hospital following a breast uplift operation (mastopexy) before being discharged home. You will be issued with a telephone number to ring in the event of a problem or query.
You are strongly advised to wear a properly fitted support bra night and day for some weeks. This supports the skin, helps the healing process and gently moulds the shape of the breasts after recovery.
The dressings must be kept clean, dry and intact until they are removed about a week after the breast uplift operation (mastopexy). Strenuous movements should be avoided for several weeks and driving is discouraged for two weeks to avoid shear stress on the wounds which can be fragile. After the dressings have been removed the scars can be massaged with skin cream.
You must attend a follow up appointment with the surgeon a week to ten days after your breast uplift operation for review and stitch removal.
Recovery & Results Following Breast Uplift
The breast uplift operation (mastopexy) involves a prolonged recovery period so it can take several months for the final result to be seen.
With optimum healing of the scars, the results of a breast uplift (mastopexy) are very pleasing. As long as your breasts are not too large and are supported most of the time you should find that you can wear strappy tops with confidence, something you may have not been able to do for years.
