Brow Lift
Before The Brow Lift Treatment
Introduction to Brow Lift
The Dublin Cosmetic Surgery Centre has found from many years of experience that the surgical treatment of brow lifting has proved disappointing.
There are 2 surgical procedures of brow lift:
1. The Traditional Brow Lift
A long horizontal incision across the scalp inside the hairline is required. This has proved unsatisfactory to a large number of female patients who dislike the transverse scar and find it difficult to style their hair.
2. Endoscopic Brow Lift
In this procedure, the scalp is raised from its attachment to the bone and stretched backwards using keyhole surgery. In our experience this procedure proved disappointing as results were far too short lasting.
In the current climate where patients are looking for less expensive and non-invasive solutions we have had excellent results using the hibernation treatment. With a course of injections, the muscles of the forehead which lower (depress) the brow are de-activated. The muscles which elevate the forehead are unaffected and are free to lift the brow.
The Dublin Cosmetic Surgery Centre has successfully performed brow lifts using the hibernation treatment in many women & men in recent years.
Am I Suitable For Brow Lift Treatment?
Brow lift is effective in patients:
1. Whose brow has drooped as a result of ageing.
2. With an excessive amount of skin on their upper eyelid which forms a hood that interferes with upper eyelid movement or is a constant source of irritation to them
Factors to Consider Before Brow Lift Treatment
Brow lift injections will not be administered in the following circumstances:
• If the patient has experienced previous problems with hibernation treatment.
• If the patient is pregnant or breast-feeding.
• If the patient has a known muscle disease or is taking drugs to relax muscles.
The Brow Lift Consultation
At the preoperative consultation for a brow lift you will be asked to complete a medical questionnaire before you see the surgeon. After reviewing your medical history, the surgeon will specifically discuss the concerns that you have about your brow and what you wish to achieve with a brow lift.
After examining you, the surgeon will outline what can be achieved with a brow lift treatment and give you a detailed explanation of the brow lift procedure, the likely results and the usual course of postoperative events. The surgeon will also answer any questions that you may have about the brow lift procedure.
At the end of your consultation, you will be issued with detailed written information about the brow lift procedure which you are strongly advised to read carefully at home. If you have any further queries/concerns, these can be discussed with the surgeon at a further consultation.
