Dermal & Facial Fillers - Calcium Hydroxylapatite

Before Calcium Hydroxylapatite Treatment

Introduction to Calcium Hydroxylapatite Treatment

Calcium Hydroxylapatite particles are composed of calcium and phosphate ions. Because these ions occur naturally in human tissue it is 100% biocompatible with the body.

The Dublin Cosmetic Surgery Centre uses Radiesse™, a unique dermal filler made from synthetic Calcium Hydroxylapatite microspheres suspended in a water based gel carrier. Once injected into fibrous tissue, the Calcium Hydroxylapatite particles form a “scaffold” to support and stimulate the production of the body’s own collagen. Because Radiesse™ is biodegradable, it is gradually broken down over time and is safely and naturally absorbed by the body. The results are longer-lasting, up to 12 months or longer in many patients, but not permanent.

Factors to Consider Before Calcium Hydroxylapatite Treatment

You will usually achieve your desired results after just one visit. To ensure your Radiesse™ treatment provides the long term enhancement you want, a follow-up visit is usually scheduled 6 to 12 weeks after the initial treatment, during which the need for a refinement is evaluated.

The Calcium Hydroxylapatite Consultation

At the preoperative consultation for Radiesse™ filler treatment you will be asked to complete a medical questionnaire and read detailed written information about the procedure before you see the surgeon. After reviewing your medical history, the surgeon will specifically discuss the concerns that you have about the proposed treatment area and what you wish to achieve with a Radiesse™ filler treatment procedure.

After examining you, the surgeon will outline what can be achieved with treatment and give you a detailed explanation of the Radiesse™ filler treatment procedure, the likely results and the usual course of postoperative events. The surgeon will also answer any questions that you may have about the Radiesse™ filler treatment procedure.

At the end of your consultation, if you are a suitable candidate and you are happy to continue, you can undergo a Radiesse™ filler treatment procedure straightaway.

If you would prefer to go away and read the detailed written information about the Radiesse™ filler treatment procedure carefully at home, any further queries/concerns can be discussed with the surgeon at a further consultation.
