Dermal & Facial Fillers - Fat Transfer

The Treatment

Day of Fat Transfer Treatment

An important factor to be fully aware of before a fat transfer (lipotransfer) procedure is:

Driving: You will be able to drive home after the procedure but we thoroughly recommend that you are driven home by someone.

The surgeon will answer any final questions/queries you may have about the fat transfer procedure before taking preoperative photographs of the treatment area.

The Fat Transfer Treatment

A fat transfer procedure usually takes 30 minutes and is performed under local anaesthetic.

Using specially designed cannulae (small, narrow, blunt surgical tubes) attached to a syringe, fat is painlessly aspirated (harvested) from the donor site (commonly the stomach, thighs or buttocks) into a syringe.

This fat is then washed and carefully prepared for transfer into the recipient site.

The prepared, harvested fat is injected from a syringe into the numbed recipient site using a specially designed blunt cannula.

Stitches are not required because the incisions are so small.
