Dermal & Facial Fillers - Hyaluronic Acid
Before Hyaluronic Acid Treatment
Introduction to Hyaluronic Acid Treatment
Hyaluronic acid is a natural material present in all connective tissue which has been developed as a temporary filling agent to successfully treat lines, wrinkles and furrows.
Hyaluronic acid fillers are available in different strengths and their respective use is dependent upon the problem in hand (i.e. their site, severity and extent). Because hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in the body, an allergy test is not required before treatment.
The Dublin Cosmetic Surgery Centre uses a stable and biodegradable synthetic hyaluronic acid produced by Q-Med called Restylane® gel. There are now several different strengths of injectible gel available (each having their own specific name) designed for specific areas of the face and depth of wrinkles to be treated.
The Dublin Cosmetic Surgery Centre has performed Restylane® filler treatments on hundreds of women & men over many years.
Am I Suitable For Hyaluronic Acid Treatment?
Restylane® gel can be used to treat:
• Fine, superficial lines
• Deep lines and furrows
• Crow’s feet (outer margins of the eyelids)
• Naso-labial (nose to mouth) lines & furrows
• Upper & lower lip lines
Restylane® gel can also be used to enhance lip definition and add volume to the chin, cheek and mid face.
Factors to Consider Before Hyaluronic Acid Treatment
The actual duration of Restylane® gel action is unique to a particular individual and depends on inherent genetic factors (i.e. the rate at which the body breaks down and absorbs the product), age, skin type, lifestyle, muscle activity and injection technique.
The Hyaluronic Acid Consultation
At the preoperative consultation for Restylane® filler treatment you will be asked to complete a medical questionnaire and read detailed written information about the procedure before you see the surgeon. After reviewing your medical history, the surgeon will specifically discuss the concerns that you have about the proposed treatment area and what you wish to achieve with a Restylane® filler treatment procedure.
After examining you, the surgeon will outline what can be achieved with treatment and give you a detailed explanation of the Restylane® filler treatment procedure, the likely results and the usual course of postoperative events. The surgeon will also answer any questions that you may have about the Restylane® filler treatment procedure.
At the end of your consultation, if you are a suitable candidate and you are happy to continue, you can undergo a Restylane® filler treatment procedure straightaway.
If you would prefer to go away and read the detailed written information about the Restylane® filler treatment procedure carefully at home, any further queries/concerns can be discussed with the surgeon at a further consultation.
